Introducing Shuvanjan Karmaker!

ES community🛸🔊 - we come to you with some big news. Our brilliant Co-Director Nik Basset is stepping out of their role and we are welcoming the incredible Shuvanjan Karmaker into a Co-Director position.

As we thought of transition, we wanted a chance to facilitate a long-term mentorship period and overlap with a person who had experienced and contributed to the organization in the past and would be invested in the futures of EVERYSEEKER. Therefore, we made the decision to hire internally.

We are thrilled to work alongside the inventive and forever dreamer Shuvanjan. Shuvanjan has contributed to the heartbeat of ES for over four years through dedicated volunteering, Board support, media/photography/documentation, and through our programming committee. Shuvanjan has consistently inspired us with a deep skillset and love in building creative spaces and nurturing artistry in all its forms.

With this joyful news, we also must say a difficult goodbye to the ever-wonderful Nik Basset. Nik has brought such intentional care, vision, and creativity to ES over the past 4 years as Co-Director (and long before that as an active Board member). Nik has built a strong foundation of support, celebration of the wild/weird/queer, and poured so much time and love into ES. These acts of love, patience, and dedication have continued to transform this festival and our greater community in ways that will continue to bloom.

Thank you and we love you a million times over,

Carmel

I am Shuvanjan Karmaker. An inter-disciplinary artist, curator and arts worker. My current work in arts examines the intersection of South Asian diaspora and Black American Music.

Nik & Carmel’s approach to leadership has enabled Everyseeker to be/stay a hub of creative support for both LGBTQIA2S+ and BIPOC community members. And for folks like me, who fall in the intersection of these communities, it is a joy to be part of it.

Future plans for Everyseeker include growing our programming and funding to include more accessible events during the festival and off-season programming.

Everyseeker embodies principles and practice that I uphold as an Artist and Arts worker, even when it’s not easy. The strength & love I received from Everyseeker team is absolutely astounding. Through my work, I would like to offer the same to Everyseeker staff, artists, members, patrons and partners.

We have a wonderful team of creatives, and I can’t wait to share what we have in store for you in 2025!
