4 Solitudes, 4 Ideas:

a Creativity Masterclass

 Facebook Live Screening + Q&A

Sunday, June 28, 2020  8PM ADT

4 Solitudes, 4 Ideas is an intimate view inside the creative landscapes of 4 individuals who are joined by essence and by blood. Together they have fostered a household of “ideo-philes”, each with their own quirks and artistic bends. They’ve figured out how to turn their love of lofty ideas into tangible work through the alchemy of creativity, often finding a way to ground this expression in justice for African-descended people.

In a story told through 4 vignettes, we witness Harvi, Delvina, Zamani and Nzingha in the element of their own creative pursuits, including forays into music, visual art, dance, writing and cooking. Through this exploration of family, culture and curiosity, we learn a valuable lesson -- among lessons, on how to live and create masterfully.

Watch 4 Solitudes, 4 Ideas  screened live by EVERYSEEKER on Facebook and join Harvi, Delvina, Nzingha and Zamani as they share reflections on the project, and bring insights on creating from a place of home isolation, and experiencing the current climate of social and political revolution.

1. Fluidity

Harvi demonstrates how the tenets of Jazz provide a powerful metaphor to push through creative and mental blocks, using concepts such as improvisation and cadence to solve complex problems faced by individuals, businesses and organizations in a world demanding innovation.

2. Relationship

Zamani explores the aspects of the creative person, process, and product through songwriting. She contemplates and deconstructs the relationship between different forms of her expression, including how her training in visual arts, ballet, and contemporary dance impact her approach to music.

3. Location

Delvina reflects on the unique artistic & cultural influences that spawned her journey toward living and seeing her own life through a creative prism and how this has led her to become a cultural and social justice advocate for the rights of all African people.

4. Nourishment

What does the world need with another cookbook? Nzingha discusses the ties between food, colonialism, African spirituality and wellness, entertaining as she builds on concepts, and shares a recipe from her upcoming book: “Kente Keto”.
