Eric Landry :::
in conversation with Kevin Howes

For those who know it, Eric Landry's "Out Of The Blue" (the only song he's released commercially in a 40+ year career) stands as an essential, iconic statement on settler identity on Turtle Island. The song was re-released in 2014 with Light In The Attic's Native North America (Vol.1) compilation, bringing wider awareness for Landry and his legacy, which is still very much unfolding.

With this piece, we explore the deeper histories and context around Eric’s life and practice. Kevin Howes (Voluntary In Nature), producer of Native North America, chats with Eric about his music and its deep connection to spirituality. Eric shares vital stories and teachings, and the two unpack how the compilation came to be.

The hour also includes tracks from indigenous icons Willy Mitchell and Willie Dunn, and features a working version of Landry’s "Wishing To Soar", a song from his in-progress album.

Many thanks to Eric for trusting us with his story and to Kevin for facilitating the connection!
